We may collect the following types of information: • Account information: name, email address, profile picture (via Google sign-in), phone number, and address details you provide. • Pet information: pet name, breed, photos, vaccine records, lost status, and related profile data. • QR tag data: tag UID, activation records, assignment to pets, and scan logs (IP address, browser user agent, scan time). • Location data: GPS coordinates or address information you submit when reporting a found pet or updating your profile. • Usage data: session tokens, support tickets, donation records, and community posts you create. • Technical data: device type, browser, and general usage patterns for security and service improvement.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to: • Create and manage your account and pet profiles. • Activate and link physical QR tags to your pets. • Display public pet profiles when someone scans an assigned tag (limited contact details are shown only when a pet is marked as lost). • Send notifications about lost pets, vaccines, donations, and support updates. • Provide customer support and respond to inquiries. • Improve platform security, prevent fraud, and enforce rate limits on tag activation attempts. • Comply with applicable laws and regulations in Bangladesh.
4. QR Tags & Public Profiles
When you activate a physical QR tag: • Your tag is linked to a pet profile using a public Tag UID (e.g. PKT_XXXXXXXX), not your internal account ID. • Anyone who scans the tag can view basic pet information (name, photo, breed, lost status). • Owner contact details (phone, email, address) are hidden by default and only shown when you mark your pet as lost. • Each scan may be logged for safety and analytics purposes. You are responsible for keeping your Activation PIN confidential until the tag is activated.
5. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data only in these cases: • With service providers who help us operate the platform (hosting, image storage, email, Redis caching). • When required by law, court order, or government request. • To protect the rights, safety, and security of Pet Koi, our users, or the public. • With your consent or at your direction (e.g. public lost-pet contact display).
6. Data Storage & Retention
Your data is stored on secure cloud servers. We retain your information while your account is active and as needed to provide services, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Pending accounts with no pet profiles may be removed after a defined period. You may request account deletion by contacting support.
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords and activation PINs, session management, and access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to: • Access and update your profile and pet information through your dashboard. • Request correction of inaccurate data. • Request deletion of your account (subject to legal retention requirements). • Withdraw consent where applicable. • Contact us with privacy-related questions or complaints.
